Krista Harrison was born May 28, 1971 in Orrville, Ohio. When Krista was 11 years old, she and a friend were picking up aluminum cans 100 yards from her home. Her friend returned to Krista’s house crying that a man with shoulder-length hair had pulled up next to the girls and had taken Krista in his van. She was able to give a comprehensive description to the police about the man’s appearance and his vehicle.
Six days later, Krista’s body was found, strangled to death by her abductor. Evidence at the crime scene included a Budweiser towel, gloves, a plaid shirt, and jeans. Using the description from Krista’s friend, police were able to hunt down her abductor and bring him to justice. A man named Robert Buell was charged with the rape and murder of both Krista and a young woman named Tina Harmon, whose body was found with fibers and DNA similar to that found on Krista.
Buell was convicted for both crimes and was sentenced to death by lethal injection. His execution was carried out on September 24, 2002.
