Reading all of these negative reviews makes me sad. As someone who is fascinated with crimes and crime scene investigation it was definitely worth it. We spent about 2 1/2 hrs in here and that was with not reading everything lol. (I only read what interested me). Even though it was a Saturday I was able to enjoy every exhibits. I am local to the area, and went to see the infamous white Bronco (OJ Simpson) just last night. However, I knew there would be more to see that my husband and I would be interested in. What we didn't expect, was the amount of things and information! We really thought it would be a smaller deal. We absolutely loved it! We spent at least 2 hours or so in there and could've spent more. We did the laser "heist" ($5) and enjoyed it. Maybe we're easily amused but we also paid the $2 for the video just to see who broke the lasers lol. We will definitely be back! If you have any interest in crimes and the cases surrounding them you should enjoy this. Crime information on EVERYTHING through the years.read more

My husband and I visited Alcatraz this past weekend while in the GSM. I loved it!! From the types of punishment long ago to information about the forensics, it all was very interesting!! Very informative attraction. My nine year old son was bored with it within about ten minutes, but my ten year old daughter found it interesting too. If you plan on reading all the exhibits, I would recommend you allow at least two hours to experience it all.read more

I travel to Alcatraz East towards the end of June 2017. I had also visited the previous location when it was the Crime Museum in Washington D.C. before closing. The displays are organized and an excellent way for anyone interested in joining law enforcement, becoming a crime scene investigator, forensic profiler, and/ or working in a lab setting provide a wealth of information. Additional displays and updated information are always presented. We did just the walk through tour and I enjoyed the museum thoroughly.read more

This was the first stop on our trip, and we loved it! Very interesting. My favorite part was the crime part. Teaches about how they process crime scenes and finger prints and things of that nature. As a true crime junkie I was extremely excited to visit Alcatraz East on our recent trip to the Smokies. This place definitely didn't disappoint. Be sure to set aside a lot of time for your visit. I spent 35 minutes in the murder/serial killer room alone! If I could improve anything, it would be the gift shop. I was disappointed that there weren't many documentaries(video or written) offered. Loved it!! I took a 12, 13, and 16 year old. They all enjoyed reading every word and that's very rare. No sense in buying the package for audio... so much is written that is not said on audio. I loved it! We had a great time! However, I would suggest to parents with children 2-4 years of age, I would go somewhere more family oriented. When we were there, there was a family there and their child got bored and cried and the other people around them had a hard time enjoying some of the exhibits. Don't take me the wrong way I love kids but a lot of the exhibits require a lot of reading and time and all I wanted to do was get away from them because they didn't try to do anything to console the child.read more

My favorite museum I've been to. My girlfriend and I have little common interests but we do enjoy this type of thing. She wanted to make it by 9 since that's when the last tickets were sold. Good thing we made it by 7, we were there for almost 3 hours and didn't even spend a lot of time in some sections of the museum. The artifacts are unreal and plenty to take in and read as well as interactive portions as well (although some things were out or order, probably the only complaint I could ever have). As a sports fan, there's even some cool things pertaining to that. Awesome attraction. Staff was awesome as well. Hopefully new artifacts will be added so we can keep coming back each time we visit.read more

I got VIP tickets for my birthday and couldn't wait to use them. This is THE BEST museum I've ever been to. I loved seeing all of the artifacts from the infamous killers, the OJ Simpson bronco, and we had a blast doing the Heist. This place was awesome, my kids loved it, it was worth the money. We spent over 3 hours going thru and everything was very interesting and the lazer heist was excellent. We also done the book and it was fun learning all the questions.read more

We visited The Alcatraz East Crime Museum yesterday ( 5/7/2017 ) for the first time. We didn't realize there was so much to see. We were there from 5:00 until they closed at 9:00 looking at all of the exhibits. We didn't get to see everything , so we went back today for almost 3 hours before headed back home to South Carolina.. My husband, J , and I loved it. We will definitely recommend everyone we know to come visit the museum. All of the pics I took , were posted on my Facebook page for all of my family and friends to see. Thank you for an amazing and interesting place to visit. It was awesome.read more

It was awesome!! The Ted Bundy car and the serial killer room was my favorites. The 911 room was very emotional. A beautiful tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives. The drunk goggles and the shooting were nest additions. Definitely will be back.read more

I especially enjoyed the was Alcatraz East chose to honor our men and women in law enforcement that gave the ultimate sacrifice. We had the best time visiting!! Everyone was so nice, and the items on display were incredible! They had everything from the bronco from the OJ Simpson chase, to John Wayne Gacys clown costumes, to a piece of steel from the twin towers. DEFINITEY recommend the visit!read more

Amazing. This attraction is well worth the cost of admission. It's larger inside than you would think. I was very interested from the start to the finish. It was really awesome to see artifacts and learn about crimes that my generation followed through internet and news coverage. Some of the information was a little haunting and made the crimes "real" instead of something merely reported on the news. The museum goes in chronological ordered of time. Very organized. It's almost like a crime book put in motion. The end allows you to learn about law enforcement and forensics. The counterfeit cereal authentic section was one of my favorites. The information is broken down so that a kid could walk away enlightened. Well done! It's a wonderful and educational opportunity for pre-teens and adults alike. I would pay to visit again. 5+ stars for the staff at the front!read more

My youngest is interested in a career in the justice field, so this place was her choice. I was very impressed with how much was in the museum. Definitely more than we expected! I went in expecting a cheesy tourist attraction, but this was top rated museum quality stuff. We didn't do the audio tour, or spend the extra $5 where you can solve a crime, but even the basic tour was well worth the money, and kept us engaged for at least 2 hours.read more

This museum definitely exceeded our expectations. It was very educational while entertaining at the same time. If you love history, law enforcement, and forensics then you will enjoy this museum. From Middle Ages, pirates, Wild West, prohibition, mafia, cyber crimes, cold cases, to a wonderful 9/11 memorial- and much more! It is huge and well worth the cost. Seemed more like a Smithsonian museum in DC. Both of my kids, ages 15 & 11, found it very interesting as well.read more

This museum should be in DC, New York or Chicago. This collection should be in the Smithsonian or another national museum. Not sure how this is in a place like Gatlinburg's tourist mall. If you are reading this and care about crime and law enforcement history please make plans to visit. I walked in expecting a cheesy 20 minute attraction and stayed for 2 hours. Could have gone through 3 more times but the energy was overpowering from all the artifacts. only notes to the site: Put in some benches and a water fountain pleaseread more
