Castle

CastleCastle was a crime drama that aired on ABC from 2009-2016. The series was created by Andrew W. Marlowe, and stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

The show follows characters Richard Castle, a well-known mystery novelist, as well as Kate Beckett, an NYPD homicide detective. Together, the duo works to solve particularly unusual crimes that occur within the city. At first, the two do not get along–Beckett in particular is unhappy at the prospect of having to work with a writer. However, they soon develop romantic feelings for one another–a relationship that is explored in detail and becomes central part of the series.

Another aspect of Castle worth noting is that the book the protagonist (Richard) writes was later released as an actual novel by ABC and Hyperion Books. Titled Heat Wave, the novel debuted at number 26 on The New York Times bestseller list. Four sequels (Naked Heat, Heat Rises, Frozen Heat, and Deadly Heat) were subsequently released, as well as a graphic novel released by Marvel Comics titled Castle: Richard Castle’s Deadly Storm.

Castle has received several awards throughout its run, including Shorty, PRISM, TV Guide, Alma, and Imagen awards. The show has also been nominated for several other awards, including Emmy and Golden Reel awards.

The series concluded with season eight’s final episode on May 16, 2016.
