Pop Culture Gallery Update

A recent poll revealed that over half of Americans listened to, watched, or read some form of crime-related media regularly. Thirteen percent of people indicated the “True Crime” genre was their favorite, which begs the question, “Why are people so fascinated with crime media?” Psychologists suggest a variety of reasons, including the desire to solve crimes as “armchair detectives” and an interest in how individuals have survived horrific circumstances. There is no shortage of crime media in today’s world. From podcasts to television shows, books to box-office hits, the crime genre has grown immensely from the days of dime-store detective novels.

This new and improved gallery space will highlight the history and growth of crime media, look into some infamous cases, and explore the psychology behind why people are so fascinated by crime.
